Libya, of ficially the State of Libya, is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Pets may enter via Tripoli International Airport. Permission must be obtained.

Pet must be vaccinated for rabies between 30 days and 12 months prior to entering Libya.
Tests and treatments
A rabies titre test is not required to enter Libya from any country.
A ticks and tapeworm treatment is not required prior to entering Libya but is recommended due to availability of these products in the country.
Health certificate and permits
Shortly prior to travel, the Veterinary Health Certificate for Libya must be completed by a licensed veterinarian and must be endorsed by the governing body of the exporting country. Cats and dogs being imported into Libya will need to be accompanied by two veterinary health certificates from the country of originating a rabies vaccination certificate.

Pets can arrive in the cabin, as checked baggage or as air cargo – airline dependent.
All domestic dogs and cats must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the entry airport. If the dog or cat is not in apparent good health, further examination by a licensed veterinarian may be required at the owner’s expense.
Tripoli does not have a live animal storage facility so it is pertinent to expedite a quick clearance of animals upon arrival. It is recommended that one uses the services of an agent in Tripoli who will arrange to have a government veterinarian meet the in coming flight.

Other pets / CITES / extra rules
If your pet is not a dog, cat or ferret, and especially if it is a turtle or parrot, you should verify that it is not protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). You will need to apply for additional permits if this is the case.
