BAH is on the arrival list for pets heading to Bahrain. Bahrain, of ficially the Kingdom of Bahrain, is an island country in West Asia. 30 days after the first Rabies vaccines given at 3 months of age.

Arrivals who are not accompanied by the below mentioned documents will be rejected.

Non-Commercial Imports are for residents who apply in person and is limited to 4 pets per person per year per CPR (Identity Card).

Personal pet moves carried out by a relocation agent are considered commercial moves. All moves NOT done by a resident are commercial moves.

Rabies and vaccinations

Mandatory for Cats and Dogs.

A RNATT or FAVN from a WOAH accredited laboratory is required for countries that are deemed a Rabies risk, an of ficial listing is not available but is reviewed regularly based on in formation received from WOAH. There is no waiting time once a satisfactory blood test certificate is available. Certificates are valid for one year.

Vaccine stickers are mandatory for countries who do not have a federal registration system.

Additions to the vaccination card or passport should be legible, stamped, and signed by the administrating veterinary. All Vaccines and Microchip Number must be recorded in Vaccination book.

DOGS – Valid Rabies, Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirosis, Parainfluenza, Leptospira.

Validity of the vaccines should within 1 month when the application for Import Permit is applied for. Puppies below 6 months must have had 2 doses of all vaccinations and shipped not less than 4 weeks after the 2nd dose.

CATS – Valid Rabies, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus & Panleukopenia.

Validity of the vaccines should within 1 month when the application for Import Permit is applied for. Kittens below six months must have had 2 doses of all vaccinations and shipped not less than 4 weeks after the 2nd dose.

Tests and treatments

A RNATT or FAVN from a WOAH accredited laboratory is required for countries that are not marked green for Rabies at WAHIS.

There is no waiting time once a satisfactory blood test certificate is available. Blood test Certificates are valid for one year from date of sample provided that the Rabies vaccine is kept within validity.

Health certificate and permits

A GOVERMENT Health Certificate is required, origin of the certificate must match the origin of the AWB. The validity of the date on the certificate is followed.

All pets arriving into Bahrain need an Import permit.

  • Validity is 30 days.
  • When an RNATT / FAVN is not required, permits take 1 to 2 business days to obtain.
  • When an RNATT / FAVN is required, Bahrain Veterinary Quarantine may opt to validate the provided certificate with the certifying laboratory before issuing the import permit, and procurement may take up to 4 business days.

Personal Pet Moves carried out by a relocation agent are considered commercial.

All other imports will be quarantined for at least 1 day and up to 30 days, depending on species and in specting veterinary availability.

Restrictions and banned breeds

Wolves and their mixes are banned from import.

Dogs often deemed dangerous are banned but could be accepted if proof of return is provided in case the dog is traveling. ie. for dog show or competition.

Pets must be brought to the Animal wealth directorate for in spection prior to obtaining a Health Certificate / Export

permit.

Annex documents required for destination must be stamped by a registered veterinary before being endorsed by the

Animal Wealth directorate.

Relocations by air consisting of more than 1 pet must be seen by Customs to complete Bayan requirements for Export.
