Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, of ficially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an archipelago and island country of West Africa in the central Atlantic Ocean, consisting of ten volcanic islands. VXE, BVC, SID, RAI. A destination agent is not typically required for Cabo Verde.

Import requirements

Animals under 3 months old can only enter Cape Verde if they are born to a mother vaccinated against rabies (proof required).

• Microchip
• Export health certificate signed, stamped, and dated within 48 hours by a government licensed veterinarian in country of origin.
• Entry permit (300 CVE), issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, with services at Ports and Airports.
• Health Card with the respective vaccines (passport);
• Medical certificate issued in the country of origin, confirming that the animal is fit to enter Cape Verde.

Note: If the conditions described above are not met, the animal is subjected to medical exams, and it may be returned to the country of origin or slaughtered by the competent authorities.

All animals must hold a certificate of sanitation and an International Certificate of Vaccination valid and issued by a veterinarian.

When applying for a visa to travel to Cape Verde with your pets, you will need to provide certain documents. These may in clude:

• Valid passport
• Vaccination records for your pets
• Proof of accommodation in Cape Verde
• Proof of financial means to support yourself and your pets during your stay
• An in ternational Veterinary Health Certificate, issued by the of ficial veterinary authority of the country of origin.
• Vaccination and Rabies vaccination certificate.
• Pet passport in cluding the registration of a valid anti-rabies vaccination.
• Certificate of Rabies Titration, depending on the country of origin.
• Proof of accommodation in Cape Verde
• Proof of financial means to support yourself and your pets during your stay

It is important to ensure that all documents are up to date and meet the requirements set by the Cape Verdean authorities.

While travelling to Cape Verde with your pets, it is important to adhere to the rules and regulations set by the authorities. Some key regulations in clude:

Vaccinated against Rabies at least 90 days prior to entering the country.

Rabies Blood Titer not less than 30 days after rabies vaccination

Internal and external deworming within 15 days of entering

Health certificate and permits

Export health certificate signed, stamped, and dated within 48 hours by a government licensed veterinarian in country of origin.

International Sanitary Certificate issued by the of ficial veterinary authority in the country where the pet is located, 48 hours before the trip.

Both are needed:

• Veterinarian health certificate
• Rabies vaccination certificate (dogs)

It is an exception if your veterinary authorities have any other agreement with Cape Verde and the health certificate have more time of validity.

All dogs and cats must first be micro-chipped and then vaccinated against rabies with a certificate showing that the pet was vaccinated at least 30 days but no more than 6 months, prior to entering the country.

The animals are classified as “small” or “large” according to the type of animal (e.g., dogs, cats, rabbits, etc...), although this is not a criterion clearly defined by the competent

authorities. Small size pets are usually classified as small size animals.

There are no constraints that prevent animals from exiting Cape Verde, provided that they
