Dogs and cats should arrive in Pakistan with listed documents:

  • Pet up to date vaccination and microchip record.
  • Health and fitness certificate by the competent authority of the exporting country.
  • Airway bill.
  • Pet owner copy of passport with complete address and contact number in Pakistan
  • Pet in ternal and external parasites treatment proof.
  • Five dogs/cats are allowed to import on a single airway bill.

If the pet owner land in Pakistan within 10 days before the pets arrival and airway bill, pet vaccination and health certificate show same shipper and consignee names.

If the pet owner fails to land in Pakistan within 10 days before the pets arrival or more than 5 animals import the PK customs consider it commercial move.

Pets from Israel are not allowed to import into Pakistan.

Pets from India should need import permission.(Banned )

Identification and microchip

The pets to enter in Pakistan have microchip with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant 15 digit.

Rabies and vaccinations

Rabies vaccination must be 30 days old (If it’s primary vaccination) but not old than 12 months at the time of import/export of the pet.

Dogs:

Rabies - Primary vaccination must be given between 30 days to 12 months from the date of departure.

Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, & Canine parvo virus given between 21 days to 12 months before the date of departure

Cats:

Rabies - Primary vaccination must be given between 30 days to 12 months from the date of departure.

Vaccination against Feline Rhinotracheitis, Panleukopenia, and Calici is between 21 days to 12 months before the date of departure

Tests and treatments

RNATT/FAVN is not required.

Internal/External Parasite treatments: All the pets must be treated against in ternal/external parasite treatment within 10 to 12 days of the export. Details of these treatments either be of ficially documented into the pet’s record or on a certificate from your pet’s veterinarian.

Health certificate and permits

International Health certificate from the competent government authority in country issued in 7 days from the date of pet’s arrival in Pakistan. If your pet is entering Pakistan from a BSE, Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), or Mad Cow Disease, in fected country, such as UK, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Falkland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Holland, Spain, Brazil, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, and Alberta Region of Canada, the National Veterinary Authority shall certify that the BSE status of the country and the feeding o pets with meat, bone meal, and greaves derived from BSE in fected ruminants has been banned and effectively enforced.

There is no specific format required for the Health Certificate: This is the standard Health Certificate to be filled out by your accredited Veterinarian and must be signed in a different color than that of the certificate's printing (usually blue ink). This certificate must be valid for 7 days from the date of issue by the of ficial veterinarian until the date of the entry into Pakistan.

All pets will need to have an import permit issued by the Ministry of National food security and research prior to departure. Your pets will be issued an release permit by the of ficial vet after pets and documents in spection at the time of pet arrival to Pakistan.

For Import Permit procurement, the following are required:

  • Copy of Owner’s Passport
  • Flight Details
  • Pet Details; i.e., Name, Age, Sex, Breed, Color
  • Copy of Vaccination Record(s)

Quarantine

If the pet arrives in good health with all original documents there is NO Quarantine. Failure to comply with regulations will mean that your pet will be refused entry, returned to country of origin, or placed in quarantine all at the expense of the person responsible for the pets import. (As Per Quarantine Department The quarantine period may last from 21 days to 6 months. )

Restrictions and banned breeds

No Breed Restriction but Animals must be moved by FMD free Countries. pigeons and wild animals are allowed from FMD free countries only.

Pets booked as manifest cargo:

After the flight landing the airline handling agent can take 90 minutes to bring the animal into the cargo area and to handover the documents to the pet owner of their representative company for customs import process. The customs clearance can take 3-4 hours and the delivery time of the pets depends on pet owner location.

It is very important that pet owner of their pet consultant company share all the available documents at-least 5-7 working days before the flight to obtain prior permissions.

  • Pet upto date vaccinations and microchip record.
  • Health and fitness certificate.
  • Export permit.
  • RNAT test result by approved laboratory (Depends on destination and airline).
