  • Rabies Vaccine certificate:

The dog(s)/cat(s) has (have) been vaccinated against rabies with an acceptable anti-

rabies vaccine not less than 30 days and not more than 1 (one) year prior to export.

2.Health Certificate:

The Health Certificate must be written in Portuguese, or Chinese, or English languages, signed by a full time government salaried/government authorized Veterinary Officer, dated and bear the of ficial stamp. And it is valid for 10 days only.

Part I. Animal Identification

Name and description of the animal (in cluding breed, sex, color, age and microchip number).

Part II. Concerning the ORIGIN OF DOG

(1) Name and address of exporter;

(2) Name and address of owner; (delete if appropriate)

(3) Address of isolation premises. (delete if appropriate)

Part III. Concerning the DESTINATION OF DOG

(1) Name and address of consignee;

(2) Means of transportation.

Part IV. Health in formation

I, the undersigned, an of ficial veterinary of ficer authorized by the competent Veterinary Authority of (in sert country of origin), hereby certify that:

(1) No case of Rabies was of ficially reported in dogs and cats during the past 2 (two) years in (in sert country of origin);

(2) The dog has been vaccinated against Rabies on [in sert date];

(3) The dog was subject to a Rabies neutralizing antibodies titre test on [in sert date] with the titre higher than 0.5 IU/mL, and the original laboratory report is attached; (delete if appropriate)

(4) The dog has been examined today and found healthy and free from evidence of in fectious or contagious disease and external parasites.

Part V. Certification validity

(1) The certificate is valid for 10 days from the date of signature.

(2) Signed by a full time government salaried/government authorized Veterinary Officer, dated and bear the of ficial stamp.

  • Quarantine

A statement of sanitary situation of exporting country must be attached in the health certificate, which must be endorsed by the of ficial veterinarian telling that in the country, state or region of origin there have been no cases of rabies in domestic cats and dogs during the past 2 years.

If this can't be declared by the of ficial veterinarian, a blood test for the rabies antibodies is requested.. After the test, pets must wait 3 months before coming to Macau, and one-month quarantine is imposed upon arrival.

Rabies and vaccinations

Tests and treatments

If pets are from Rabies-in fected country will require rabies blood test from approved lab.

A blood sample should be collected at least 30 days after vaccination and at least 3 months prior to travelling and sent to an approved laboratory for the rabies antibody titration.

Upon a favorable test result (titre superior to 0,5 IU), pets are ready to travel after a 3-month waiting period has elapsed; counting from the day the blood was collected.

The original or certified copy of the test results should be attached to the original health certificate, to gether with the vaccination record.

1-month post-arrival quarantine in our Municipal Kennels is imposed for pets coming from a Rabies-in fected country. It is no longer permitted to visit pets whilst in the quarantine period.

During the period of post-arrival quarantine, you can arrange an up-to-date rabies antibody titration test for your dog/cat again on arrival day or after, once we receive the blood test report, dog/cat can be released from quarantine at the same day within our office hour. Ticks and tapeworm treatment not required before going to Macau.

Restrictions and banned breeds

No case of rabies was of ficially reported in dogs and cats during the past 2 (two) years in the exporting country.

Import of the following species of dogs is prohibited: 1) Tibetan mastiff; 2) Fila Braziliero and its crossbreeds; 3) Dogo Argentino and its crossbreeds; 4) Pit Bull Terrier and its crossbreeds; 5) Japanese Tosa and its crossbreeds.

Recommend to use HKG airport for most carriers, and then 24hrs Hong Kong transit permit, and use bridge or ferry to/from Hong Kong.
