Steps for importing or export of pet dogs, cats through HSIA Airport:

a) Passengers carry various animals and animal products (such as pet dogs, cats) during arrival and departure The following documents are to be sent to get the quarantine certificate from the Livestock Quarantine Station at the airport.

a) Pet owner passport & visa and air ticket.

b) No Objection Letter.

b.1. No Objection Letter (NOC) should be obtained from the office of the Assistant Director (Training), Directorate of Livestock, Khamarbari, Farmgate, Dhaka, Tel: +88—02—9115936, adtraining.dls@gmail.com, for import of Feline & Canine

b.2. No Objection Letter (NOC) should be obtained from the Department of Conservator of Forests, Wildlife and Nature Reserves (Ban Bhavan, Agargaon, Dhaka, Tel: +88-02-8181142, cfwildlifefd@gmail.com) for importing wild animals)

c) Veterinary Health Certificate.

d) Vaccination card.

e) Pictures of animals.

Authority Functions of Port1. Prohibition of mating, import and export of animals, birds and animal products, etc – Under the law of The Imports and Exports ( Control), Act 1950 (XXXIX of 1950), if any animal or animal product may cause disease to animals or humans, it can be quarantined, prohibited from being imported or exported, or otherwise controlled under the government's import and export policy orders.

• Control of animals and animal products for pest control - The quarantine of ficer is responsible for all animals and animal products that are quarantined. They will take the necessary measures to quarantine the animals and animal products, as prescribed by law.
• Powers and functions of Prohibition Officer - The Livestock Quarantine Station has the authority to seize animals and animal products for the purpose of animal control, in spection, fixing the period of quarantine, release from quarantine, and scheduled examinations. They can also issue health certificates of animals detained for pest control and order the destruction or otherwise disposal of diseased animals or in fected animal products in the prescribed manner. In addition, they prohibit the export of non-travelable animals and in case of importation of animals, birds and animal products declared prohibited by the government, the said animals, birds and animal products must be returned at the importer’s own expense or ordered to be disposed of in a prescribed manner. They can also take any other measures necessary for the proper performance of their duties and responsibilities.

• Importer’s Notification of Import - Importers must notify the quarantine of ficer at least 15 days before importing any animal, bird, or animal product. The notice must be given in the prescribed manner.
• Provisions relating to animals or animal products imported without valid import license. — If an animal or animal product is imported without a valid import license and health certificate, and if the animal or animal product is not in fected with any in fectious disease, the government may dispose of it in the prescribed manner.

• Penalty. - If a person breaks any rule of this Act or fails to do something they are required to do or to follow the in structions given under this Act, they may be imprisoned for up to two years, fined up to 10,000 takas, or both.

One owner can allow maximum two pet at a time.

Identification and microchip

For Cat & Dog

It must be microchipped with an ISO 11784/11785 compliant pet microchip that is 15-digit and non-encrypted before being vaccinated.

For Bird:

Only need NOC prior to arrival or departure from Forest Ministry.

Rabies and vaccinations

Rabies Shot required not less than 30 days and not more than one year prior to arrival or departure.

For Flight Cabin

The Health Certificate signed by a private practice vet or the Official Vet (Director of Central Veterinary Hospital)

Required Health Certificate for Export:

Health certificates from private/of ficial vets are both accepted.

This import Permit means Bangladesh NOC from the Department of Live Stock. For import Permit, Pet owner has to apply on line 10days before the import.
