For countries that do not declare free of Leishmaniasis in the OMSA, proof will be required with a negative result (IFAT, ELISA or direct agglutination test), or detection of the agent (by molecular methods), will be required within a period of no more than SIXTY (60) days prior to the date of entry of the canine to Uruguay. The diagnostic test must be carried out in accordance with the "Manual of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial Animals" of the OMSA.

• MGAP accepts the presentation of an Official Pets Passport in stead of the IHC. The passport must be valid and contain all required health in formation (current rabies vaccination, microchip, in ternal and external antiparasitic treatment, and a health examination). It must be endorsed with the signature and seal of an Official Veterinarian from the country's Health Authority prior to boarding. Passports that do not contain validation from the Official Health Authority will not be accepted for entry into Uruguay.
• The airline, cargo agent, or person responsible for the pet must notify the airline 72 hours in advance of the arrival of the pet in the "cargo" category. They must also send the health documentation via email to aeropuertoic@mgap.gub.uy prior to boarding.
• If your stay is less than 30 days, you may return with the same entry certificate, provided it is valid. Otherwise, you will need to redo the certification as detailed in the section on EXITING URUGUAY.

Identification and microchip

• Pets must be microchipped with ISO compatible transponder and in accordance with [Resolution No. 273 of DGSG of 27/08/2018](https://www.gub.uy/ministerio-ganaderia-agricultura-pesca/in stitucional/normativa/resolucion-n-273018-dgsg-se-adecuan-normas-control-certificacion-sanitaria).

Rabies and vaccinations

Required.

• In the case of animals vaccinated for the first time, the vaccine must be given at least TWENTY ONE (21) days, maximum 12 months prior to entering. 3 years vaccine might be accepted with previous notification and authorization.

• Must be vaccinated against rabies with vaccines authorized by the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin/prospect and with valid immunity according to the validity period granted by the laboratory that manufactured the vaccine. (Vaccines valid for 3 Years are accepted)

• Animals that have not been vaccinated first, but that have a current vaccination plan, are eligible for entry, this must be certified according to the regulations established by the competent health authority of the country of origin.

• Rabies vaccination is required, must be given at least TWENTY ONE (21) days, maximum 12 months prior to entering.
• For dogs: Vaccines DAPPvL2 and KC are not required but are suggested.

For cats: Vaccines HCP are not required but are suggested.

Tests and treatments

For countries that do not declare free of Leishmaniasis in the OMSA, proof will be required with a negative result (IFAT, ELISA or direct agglutination test), or detection of the agent (by molecular methods), will be required within a period of no more than SIXTY (60) days prior to the date of entry of the canine to Uruguay. Internal and external deworming is required, with the date and product applied, carried out within FIFTEEN (15) days prior to the arrival date, with veterinary products approved by the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin. The in ternal treatment must contain Praziquantel as the active in gredient.

Health certificate and permits

Official Health Certificate must be issued and endorsed by the of ficial health veterinarian of the country of origin within 10 days before arrival.

Quarantine

• Dogs and cats do not require quarantine.
• If entering. with any other non-traditional pet (i.e., ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, birds, etc.), whether permanently or temporarily, you must first process the import authorization with the MGAP (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) and obtain the International Health Certificate in your country of origin because they will probably need to quarantine. Airport of entry it is MVD. The import process is long, it takes between 4 and 6 hours approximately. Provide owners passport copy, visa when applicable, POA & AWB (is required when pets arrive as cargo), rabies certificate, others vaccine, microchip certificate, Leishmania Test, IHC, Import Permit (If applicable). Pets can enter in cabin, as baggage, or as cargo. They can arrive during non-working hours, weekends and holidays (additional costs apply) / Please note that: Import process cannot be carried out on December 24th, 25th, 31th and January 1st.

It's important to note that when traveling with pets, you should check the "Pet Exit" requirements. Since each country has its own requirements, these requirements may be modified at any time by the authorities of the importing countries, it's essential to inform yourself in advance and complete the process early. • International Health Certificate (IHC): Issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MGAP).

• Identification: Microchip (The microchip must have been implanted before or on the same day as the rabies vaccination)

• Rabies vaccination: The vaccine must be current at the time of travel and recorded on the certificate.

• Deworming: Internal and external deworming is recommended, with proof of date and product used.

Other pets / CITES / extra rules
