The order matters more than the effort: a rabies vaccination given before the microchip was implanted does not count in most regimes, and a titer test drawn too early restarts a waiting period. -Required. Dogs and cats must be at least 4 months old to travel to Honduras.

  • Primary vaccination: Must be administered at least 30 days before travel and within 12 months prior to entry.
  • 3-year rabies vaccines are accepted, but only recognized as valid for 1 year by Honduran authorities.
  • Boosters given while the prior rabies vaccine is still valid do not require a 30-day wait.

Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Canine hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza.

Cats: Rabies, feline leukemia vaccine, triple feline (FVRCP: viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia)

International health certificate. For the USA, no USDA is required. For other countries, have it endorsed by the State vet.

-A broker is recommended to deal with Customs.

-Airway bills over $1000.00 require additional custom brokerage procedures.

-Airport authorities operate Monday to Friday during business hours and Saturday until noon. For pets arriving as cargo, it is recommended to schedule flights Monday to Friday, arriving no later than noon, to help ensure same-day customs clearance. Pets arriving in the afternoon are subject to the risk of being held overnight at the airport and cleared the following business day.
