Cats and dogs may only be imported if coming from: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Barbados, Canada, Ireland (Rep of), Jamaica, New Zealand, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland and the USA.

Rabies and vaccinations
Must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days but not more than 12 months prior to import.
Pet must have a DHLPP+C Immunization. Record and be vaccinated against any other endemic diseases of importance.
Tests and treatments
Titer test requirements: A blood sample must be taken from the animal and sent to a reputable Rabies Reference Laboratory to perform the RNATT*/FAVN, and the result must be sent directly to the Veterinary Services prior to issuing an import permit. The test result must show a serum antibody level of at least 0.5 IU/mL. The test must be done not less than one (1) month after vaccination with an approved Rabies Vaccine.
Must be treated against in ternal and external parasites by a licensed veterinarian.
Must be tested and treated for heartworms and certified heartworm-free.
Health certificate and permits
Must in clude Rabies vaccine in formation (type, serial number, date of expiration and date of administration).
Must be obtained from the Veterinary Department of the Division of Agriculture. Will be issued once all requirements are met and sent to the importer by fax or email.
*Can take at least 3-4 weeks to process.

Pets entering Dominica by air should do so at either Douglas-Charles Airport in Marigot or Canefield Airport in Roseau. All domestic dogs and cats must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined at the entry airport.

If your pet is not a dog, cat, or ferret and especially if it is a turtle or parrot, you should verify that it is not protected under CITES. You will need to apply for additional permits if this is the case.
